Switzerland

Forests account for 30% of Switzerland’s land area, of which nearly 15% are plantations. Forest cover has increased at a rate of 0.3% per year between 1990 and 2015 (FAO, 2015).

Illegal logging is not a significant problem in Switzerland, and the risk of sourcing illegal Swiss timber is thought to be negligible (Swiss Federal Office for the Environment, 2013). In 2010, Switzerland implemented the “Ordinance on the Declaration for Timber and Timber Products” which requires disclosure of the species and country of origin for certain timber products.
