Togo

Less than 5% of Togo’s land area is forested, one quarter of which are plantations. About 80% of Togo’s forests are privately owned. The country has one of the highest rates of deforestation in the world; the annual rate was 3.4% between 1990 and 2000, and had risen to 8.1% between 2010 and 2015 (FAO, 2015). Illegal logging is widespread in the country.
