HONDURAS VPA NEGOTIATIONS

Honduras is the first country in the Americas to begin a Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) negotiation process, following a meeting between Minister Director Trinidad Suazo of the Honduras National Institute for Forest Conservation and Development, Protected Areas and Wildlife (ICF) and EU Commissioner for the Environment Janez Potočnik in Brussels on 27 April.

The bilateral Agreement that the two parties hope to sign will ensure that timber and wood products exported to the EU will be verifiably legal according to Honduras’ statutes.
